In my earlier post I discussed how the Dodgers needed to step up and pay Ethier and avoid arbitration. Well this week they did just that. They didn’t give him exactly what he was asking for 3.75MM, but they did come very close. They agreed to 3.1MM with a possible 1oo,ooo in incentives which would bring him exactly to the midway point of what he was asking for and what the Dodgers were willing to pay.
I’m glad the Dodgers avoided arbitration with Ethier, but I’m mad they didn’t come to terms with him a lot sooner. Have you ever been screwed around by your employer when it comes to salary negotiations? I have, and every time it left a bitter taste in my mouth. When I got the chance to screw them back I took advantage of it. Well Ethier’s time to get back at the Dodgers will be next year, and it will be interesting to see what he does. I wouldn’t doubt it if we loose him to the Diamondbacks since he lives in Arizona. This is just another example of the Dodgers not being smart with their money, when will they learn!
Alright I spoke my mind on this subject, time to focus on Spring Ball!
