Gear Up For Dodgers Baseball

The Deal Is Done, Manny Is Here To Stay

March 4th, 2009 at 9:52 pm

MLB: SEP 14 Dodgers v Rockies

The deal we all thought would never happen has been done, Manny will entertain the fans of the Los Angeles Dodgers for at least one more year.  The contract he signed today is for two years and $45MM, but the bigger news is that the contract also provides Manny with a players option to become a free agent again at the end of the season.  This option for Manny to walk at the end of the season is not a good thing for the Dodgers, but looking on the brighter side Manny will have some really good motivation to make this year one of the best of his career.  As a die hard fan I say let’s enjoy Manny while we have him.  My prediction is this is the last year we’ll have him wearing Dodger blue, but it may be all we need to bring the World Series Title back to LA.  Manny signing with the Dodgers was welcome news for all but one of his teammates.  That one teamate who I’m sure was dissapointed was Juan Pierre, because that ends his hopes of a starting spot on the rotation come opening day.  I expect the Dodgers to try and move him  to another team real soon.

Welcome Back Manny!

I am glad that I won't have to hear about Manny negotiating anymore. I do LOVE that he claimed the reason that he finally gave in to the deal was the "bad economy" like he knows anything about it. Good luck dealing with him this year. You are right about him not coming back for a second year. He will no doubt ask for more money once again. GREEDY BASTARDO!
