Gear Up For Dodgers Baseball

A Few Random Observations

MLB: MAY 10 Giants at Dodgers

First game against the Cubs just ended. Good solid pitching. Troncoso got into a little trouble and then got out of it with two strikeouts. Good to see.

Going back earlier in the week, there’s nothing like a good old fashioned Rockies thrashing to pad your numbers.

Here’s a few things to note…

Andre Ethier alive; had been presumed dead

That was the headline I would have put on the front page of the LA Times sports section the other day after watching Ethier finally get a couple hits. Now we just have to hope that he can keep it up.

If Ethier can find his groove again, the Dodger lineup will become even more potent, and it will just get better when Manny gets back.

Speaking of which…

Manny works out at Dodger Stadium

So Manny has decided to act like he’s still a part of the Dodgers after all.

And I’m glad he apologized to the team and all that, but I still feel a tad unfulfilled. Where’s MY apology? I want to see Manny come out before a game in the next homestand and publicly apologize to the fans. I really don’t think that’s too much to ask.

Power outage

So it’s been a little while since the Dodgers have had a home run. They went up to Colorado and didn’t even hit one.

Not too concerned about that, though. They’re winning games, and that works for me. Still, one can only imagine the kinds of wins they’d be getting if they were hitting for more power.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

Colletti more actively seeking pitching?

So I read in the Times this morning that Ned Colletti has acknowledged that he will be looking to add some pitching. Good. I was starting to get worried that he would just see things going the way they are and think that nothing needed to be done.

Word is that Jake Peavy coming to the Dodgers might not be as much of a long shot as we thought…

Speaking of pitching…

Gagne signs in Canada, would rejoin Dodgers

In other hilarious news, former Dodger closer Eric Gagne has joined the Quebec Capitales of the

Can-Am League. Apparently no one in the majors wants him. I suppose he has to take what he can get at this point.

The part that concerns me, however, is that he has said that he would return to the Dodgers if given the opportunity.

Not a good idea, if you ask me. Only upside would be that he’d probably come cheap, and because of that wouldn’t be a huge risk.

Time to sweep the Cubs…again.
